City Safe Radio Network

Led by Central BID Birmingham, the City Safe radio network operates in partnership with West Midlands Police, British Transport Police, Birmingham City Council and other bodies across the city to actively reduce crime.

More than 260 City Safe digital radios are now in operation across the city centre, keeping BID members connected when needed.

City Safe was created in Autumn 2019 by the BID as a response to members’ increasing concerns about business crime and the impact of anti-social behaviour on the safety of staff and visitors to the city. Hire of radio equipment and airtime is provided by Apex Radio Systems Limited.

All radios are linked to West Midlands Police and Birmingham City Council CCTV operators and connect and support the retail security community throughout the area.

The radio provided by Apex Radio Systems Limited is a class-leading Motorola digital radio which includes handset, battery, antenna, charger and belt clip.
