This epic concert and visual experience at Birmingham Town Hall allows the audience to see through the eyes of an astronaut to a soundtrack of superb live music.
Space Station Earth is a long-form musical work by Ilan Eshkeri, created in collaboration with the European Space Agency.
It uniquely captures ‘The Overview Effect’ – the profound awe astronauts feel when viewing the Earth from orbit.
It starts at 8pm but there will be a pre-concert talk with a representative from the European Space Agency at 6:30pm.
The concert, on a UK tour to only four UK cities – is performed on synthesisers, supported by orchestra and choir, and accompanied by a triptych film of high-definition footage filmed by astronauts from the International Space Station.
The film – written and directed by Ilan – unfolds in synchrony with the music and functions as a visual expression of its emotional narrative.
Award-winning composer Ilan is renowned for his music and was responsible for the scores of cult films Layer Cake and Stardust.
Tickets cost from £15 to £74.
Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult over 18 and there is a maximum of 8 tickets per person/per household.
