Great Birmingham Run returns to city centre on Sunday, 5 May

On Sunday, 5 May 2024, the AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run 10k, Half Marathon and Mini/Junior options for younger runners will take place for up to 12,500 participants and involve some road closures across the city centre.

The event is being organised by The Great Run Company in conjunction with Birmingham City Council. The aim is to inspire more people to get active more regularly and many runners will be raising money for local and national charities.

Runners will start on Broad Street, adjacent to the iconic Centenary Square before taking on either half marathon or 10k distance before finishing in Smithfield.

The route itself will visit parts of the city such as the Jewellery Quarter and Westside before the half marathon course heads south towards Selly Park via Pershore Road, returning through Cannon Hill Park and Edgbaston Cricket Ground and into the finish.

Road closures have been agreed with Birmingham City Council and will be implemented in phases (closures between 05:00 – 09:00 and re-openings between 12:30 – 16:00).

The Great Birmingham Run will endeavour to minimise disruption to the road network and ensure roads are returned to normal traffic conditions in a timely fashion. The road closures will NOT affect the access of emergency vehicles or pedestrian access.

If there is anyone else in your building or organisation you think the road closures may affect please do get in touch with the organisers.

If you have any questions please email birmingham@greatrun.org or telephone 0121 516 4497, which is also open on event day should you need assistance.
