Birmingham’s renowned The Alexandra gave families a peek into the world behind stage at its special Theatre Open Day.
The historic theatre that dates back to 1901 in Station Street was inspiring future generations as children got to see how the magic of big shows is created, from the lighting team to technical equipment.

Helen Best, spokeswoman for The Alexandra, said: “We were thrilled to host our most successful Open Day to date last week.
“People from across the region joined us to explore behind the scenes, gain hands on experience with our technical team and enjoy a jam-packed day of activities.”
The Alexandra, now part of the ATG Entertainment network of theatres nationwide, attracts some of the biggest musicals and shows.

This Christmas, it is welcoming Olivier Award-winning Fiddler on the Roof from December 9 to January 3 and shows before then include Dear Evan Hansen from June 17 to 21 and War Horse from July 10 to 19.
For those that missed the Open Day, theatre tours take place regularly. Keep an eye out on The Alexandra website here for updates.
