Spectacular theatre delights from award-winning musicals to murder mysteries, comedy with a Celebrity Traitors star and family shows are heading to The Alexandra, Birmingham throughout the Winter months into 2026.

Musicals
The spectacular Olivier Award-winning musical Fiddler on the Roof will settle into The Alexandra for four weeks throughout December. Featuring classic songs If I Were A Rich Man, Tradition and Matchmaker, this story of family, tradition and joy seems the perfect narrative for the festive season.

While from the end of March into April, Legally Blonde makes an iconic return to Birmingham starring Amber Davies. She will step into the shoes of Elle Woods following her whirlwind journey on the latest season of Strictly Come Dancing.
Christopher Ryan Grant will reprise his role as Johnny Cash and Christina Bianco will play June Carter Cash in the UK tour of The Ballad of Johnny & June at The Alex in April.
Told through the eyes of their son – songwriter and musician John Carter Cash, who helped create this official production – the acclaimed hit musical shows why Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash remain one of the most iconic couples in music history, packed with a soundtrack of beloved hits including I Walk the Line, Ring of Fire and Wildwood Flower.

Another award-winner is on its way in May when Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical stops off at The Alexandra bringing wartime efforts, comedy and memorable songs.
One of the all-time favourites, Annie, will return to Birmingham in June, so be ready for iconic tunes like It’s A Hardknock Life and Tomorrow.

Unmissable drama
The Woman in Black pays a visit to Birmingham’s most haunted theatre in January, bringing atmosphere, illusion and controlled horror to the 124-year-old building.

Dickens Theatre Company are back with Revision on Tour as they present Macbeth and Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde for students and literature lovers alike in February.
There’ll be more gripping drama when The Alex’s stage transforms into the notorious Shawshank facility as Joe McFadden, Ben Onwukwe and Bill Ward star in The Shawshank Redemption in May.
Murder mysteries and thrillers
There’s plenty for crime lovers to relish next year as TV and film favourites are transferred to stage. Midsomer Murders: The Killings at Badger’s Drift reaches The Alexandra in March and is a must see for fans of the TV drama.

We caught it early on in the tour and it’s full of the eccentricities and gruesome deaths that Midsomer fans adore, along with starring Daniel Casey as Barnaby, who once played Troy in the TV hit show.
Queen of Murder fans will be thrilled to hear that director Lucy Bailey has reunited with writer Ken Ludwig for a new adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile in April. It follows on from her successful other Christie classics including Murder On The Orient Express.
Expect chills and suspense in a new adaptation of Single White Female in May starring Lisa Faulkner and Kym Marsh in the tale based on the iconic 90s psychological thriller.

John Le Carre’s famous The Spy Who Came In From The Cold makes its long-awaited debut on stage in a tour that reaches The Alexandra at the end of June into July.
Comedy
Brightening up the dark winter nights is plenty of comedy. Al Murray brings his All You Need Is Guv tour in February, Chris McCausaland’s Yorks! show is in March, when Fawlty Towers – The Play also brings laughter.
Celebrity Traitors favourite Nick Mohammed is on tour again and brings his Mr Swallow: Show Pony tour to The Alex in May.
Family shows
Birmingham Stage Company brings Horrible Histories – The Concert to the second city in February and it features actors from the original TV series.
Continuing the family fun are Bluey, Bingo, Bandit and Chilli when Bluey’s Big Play arrives in March. Brilliantly created puppets bring the Heelers to life in a way you’ve never seen before.

The UK’s most successful dance group, Diversity is back at The Alexandra as they kick off their brand-new concept tour, SOUL. Expect robotics and AI blended in a way that’s never been seen before in February.
Dance fans will also love Strictly Come Dancing’s professionals Amy Dowden and Carlos Gu coming together for their show Reborn in June.
Peppa Pig’s Big Family Show is also set to entertain young crowds in June.
Live music and opera
Music lovers can celebrate the greats of the industry with tributes to Sir Elton John, Whitney Houston, Luther Vandross, Elvis, Pink Floyd and many more. See the full listings below for dates.

Or for something more classical, there’s opera from Ellen Kent. Since the theatre company has toured with the best of traditional opera from Eastern Europe and its 2026 Farewell Opera Tour brings Madama Butterfly, La Traviata and Carmen to The Alexandra.
