B:Music is holding a special fundraising auction to raise much-needed money in for its Amplify Town Hall appeal that preserves, celebrates and secures the future of the historic performance venue.
Prized possessions by Peaky Blinders’ creator Steven Knight and music stars Joan Armatrading and The Specials’ Horace Panter are among items being sold at auction from 10.30am on Monday December 15 to raise vital funds.
A unique special auction will take place by Richard Wintertons Auctioneers at The Lichfield Auction Centre, in Fradley Park, and includes a signed vinyl How Did This Happen and What Does It Now Mean donated by Birmingham-born singer Joan Armatrading.
As an ambassador for Amplify Town Hall, she has donated a signed copy of her 2024 album, her 21st studio release and said: “My first ever experience of live music was at Birmingham Town Hall.

“I’m delighted to be an Amplifier for the project, helping preserve the historic past and creating a sustainable future for generations of artists and audiences to enjoy. Local venues like Town Hall are the lifeblood of our music culture. They’re where artists find their voice, where communities come together, and where unforgettable memories are made.”
Steven Knight has donated a Signed Peaky Blinders Series 1, Episode 1 script, along with a cast photo, that he has also signed.
Knight knows Birmingham Town Hall well as Peaky Blinders Series 5 and his 2024 series This Town had premieres held at the venue. “I love it, I love this building,” said Knight.

Horace Panter of The Specials and The Dirt Road Band has donated The Spirit of ’79 fine art print, signed and framed edition, which is just one of 50 copies.
The artwork valued at £500 is a tribute to The Specials and their beginnings in 1979. Panter said: “Live performance is the bedrock of the music scene, from youngsters learning their craft to seasoned professionals touring major venues. It is a community.
“Music brings people together. Anything that promotes venues, by support, maintenance, refurbishment, safety, access, is an asset to the city.”
The items will appear as Lots 401, 402 and 403 and viewing can be made in person at the auctioneers on Friday December 12 from 10am to 4pm or online a week before the sale via Richard Winterton Auctioneers.

Bidding can be made online before and during the sale, in-room on the day, or by prior telephone arrangement.
Auctioneer Richard Winterton said: “Amplify Town Hall is a fantastic project celebrating the incredible cultural legacy of this much-loved Birmingham landmark. It’s remarkable to reflect on how many iconic figures have graced the Town Hall stage in the past 191 years.
“These three special lots have been generously donated for auction by Joan Armatrading, Horace Panter, and Steven Knight. Their personal support shows how important Town Hall is to audiences and artists alike.”
