Birmingham Weekender festival – full programme over August Bank Holiday

The full line-up for Birmingham Weekender 2025 has been revealed featuring high-flying aerial dance, Dhol drummers, street dance and much more to keep all the family entertained.

The family-friendly festival is free and runs over August Bank Holiday weekend from Saturday August 23 to Monday August 25 in Birmingham city centre.

Up in the sky is an aerial display like no other

Produced by Birmingham Hippodrome in partnership with Bullring, it all starts with the vibrant Weekender Carnival by ACE Dance and Music.

New Street Station will transforms into a stage and canvas with Mish Weaver’s Waiting Song, a lyrical conversation between two trapeze artists, What Are You Waiting For? There will also be high-energy Dance Flashmobs from Marshon Dance Company.

Highlights across the weekend include dance taking flight on Rotunda Square as Autin Dance Theatre perform Up in the Sky, a breath-taking aerial adventure for all the family. There’s also entertainment from the Hippodrome Young Dancers Showcase and Birmingham Opera in St Martin’s Church.

Street dancers will be at New Street Station

Artizani’s Hydropunk will be an interactive water-themed installation challenging visitors to consider the environment while having fun and Edgbaston Street becomes a space of play, reflection, and creativity.

Tilly Ingram Theatre performs The Hide, an intimate birdwatching experience, and Toc de Fusta’s L’atelier is a hands-on installation filled with curious wooden machines, playful surprises and stories waiting to be discovered.

Festival-goers can co-create the Brum in Colour Mural in Chaophraya Square, reconnect with nature at the Weekender Green Hub and enjoy everything from street dance to circus acts and hip hop theatre inside Bullring

RO-TES will be by StopGap Dance Company

Shoppers can also see The Museum of Memorable Trees, a miniature museum experience by curator Harry Pizzey, who offers guided tours and curious stories.

Accessibility remains a core commitment of Birmingham Weekender, with British Sign Language (BSL) interpreted and audio described performances, accessible viewing areas and a team of dedicated access hosts working across the festival and at the festival access hubs.
