Cass Art shop is looking for creatives to decorate its prominent store window in Birmingham city centre. The art supply brand will even provide all the materials needed for free.
Thousands of people every day take in the large window at Cass Art in Corporation Street as they commute or head into the city centre to shop and eat. Now emerging artists, along with street art specialists and creative students are being sought to decorate it with their unique designs.
For some it may be the first opportunity they get to display their work in public.
Charlotte Hussey, Manager of Cass Art’s Birmingham store, said: “We regularly get artists to decorate our windows and are looking for more to get involved.
“Birmingham has such a big street art culture, it would be great to hear from graffiti artists too, along with students, emerging or established artists.”
Anyone interested should email their bespoke design to Charlotte at Cass Art at birminghamartspace@cassart.co.uk. She will then select artists as part of a regular rotation to come in and create a window display.
Artists will get to feature their name on the window to help boost their profile.
It comes as Cass Art is also offering a student discount of 20% off everything in-store between September 30 and October 3. There will also be a goodie bag worth £100 available for some purchases.
Cass Art is all about nurturing creative talent and letting people flourish through art, selling art supplies from paints to paper. Posca pens from the Birmingham store were even used by Ozzy Osbourne and his Black Sabbath band mates to sign the Black Sabbath mural in Navigation Street, pictured below.
Charlotte, who used to manage the Levis store in Bullring moved to Cass Art for a special reason. She explained: “I’ve been doing art all my life so this was a passion move for me.
“There’s a lovely atmosphere working in Cass Art. We get regulars we see all the time and get to know. It’s nice to spend all day talking about art.”
