American brand Insomnia Cookies has set up a Birmingham city centre cafe that is targeting snackers into the night. We take a closer look.
Nestled in Bennetts Hill, the popular US bakery has picked an apt site among the bustling nightlife, steps away from cocktail bars and pubs of Cosy Club, The Lost and Found, The Sun On The Hill and Wetherspoon’s The Briar Rose.
Already established in Manchester, where revellers dip in for cookies after a night out, the Birmingham branch of Insomnia Cookies managed by Ryan Nock is hoping to attract a similar crowd, along with those hungry during the daytime.

Moving into the former Bodega premises, Insomnia Cookies serves up warm cookies from 11am until 1am from Sunday to Thursday and until 2am on Friday and Saturday.
The Insomnia Cookies cafe is bright and cheerful with seating for at least 12 and welcoming neon signs at every turn telling shoppers know they are “getting warmer warmer warmer”.
Warmth of the cookies is a big deal here and it is fitted out with special cabinets that keep all the bakes mouth-wateringly heated and they all smell divine.

It’s particularly good for the chocolate options that melt in the mouth like an explosion of sweet, sticky liquid in your mouth.
Cookie flavours range from classics for £2.45 to extravagant double size offerings like Churro Cheesecake, Chai Latte and one infused with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup for £3.95.
Yet the most popular with diners, I’m told, are their special mix of brownie and cookie called a ‘Brookie’ and the Bueno Deluxe cookie.

They also serve specials that change regularly, a range of ice creams and shakes plus vegan and gluten-free cookies along with coffee and tea. Packs of 12 cookies are also available.
Find Insomnia Cookies at 12 Bennetts Hill, Birmingham B2 5RS. It also takes delivery orders.
